To be held at the Napanee Lions Club hall
on Centre St. in the town of Napanee, Ontario. The hall can be reached from Hwy.
401 by taking the Hwy. 49 interchange at Napanee and proceeding south on Hwy. 41
(Centre St.), through the town, over the Napanee River. Drive through the next
set of traffic lights and proceed approximately 100 yards on your left to the
auction site.
We have been asked by the family of Phyllis and the late
Ted Stewart of Oshawa Ont. to sell their collection of country furniture and
accessories by public auction.
The Stewarts, who operated Pheasants Run Antiques for many
years from their home in Oshawa Ontario and partook in many of the premier
antique shows in Ontario, including Bowmanville, have put together over a
period of 50 plus years, a wonderful collection of painted country furniture to
include three Windsor armchairs, one of which is in Pain plate #239 from Bath
Ontario, a butternut and figured maple slant front desk from Northumberland
County, see Pain plate #667, an architectural corner cupboard featuring a
single upper door with 15 lights over two paneled doors below, several early
candle stands in paint, an early round gate leg drop leaf table in paint,
apothecary drawers in paint, an open cupboard from Ontario County (the cupboard
is shown in Pain plate #441 in refinished condition but has since been
repainted), games board, textiles to
include hooked mats, quilts and samplers, a large quantity of flow blue from
the first period, shore birds, a full bodied goose decoy by Roy Mills of
Kensington PEI, weather vanes including an outstanding tin rooster from Lenox
and Addington County, a sheet tin horse weather vane, several examples of
wooden horses including pull toys, rocking horse in it’s original painted
finish, whirly gigs, crocks, a great selection of small wooden ware, majolica,
Peafowl, Gaudy Welsh in quantity, pottery of the Bennington type, folk
sculptures to include examples by Gordon Law, Bruce Smith, Rentz, etc., early
lighting to include candle lanterns, rush light etc., coal oil in both clear
and coloured glass, etc.,

The sale will take place at the Lions Hall in Napanee Ontario on Saturday June
6, 2009. There will be a catalogue prepared for this sale at a cost of $28.00,
which will include shipping, taxes and a price key after the sale. Please send
