traffic lights. The hall is approx. 100 yds. from the sixth set of lights on the
left or east side of the street.
We have been asked by the family of the late Mary and Dr. Murray Copeland of Ottawa Ont. to offer their personal collection by unreserved auction.
The Copeland’s, who for many years operated Copeland Antiques in the Ottawa area and participated in most of the top antique shows in Ontario and Quebec, specialized in country and formal furnishings and accessories of the late 18th and early 19th century, drawing their stock from well cultivated connections in Canada’s east coast, Quebec, Ontario and the US., with a special interest in Canadian transfer historical china and Early American patterned glass.
They had retained a small but exclusive collection of items of interest to the advanced collector within these fields and it is with pleasure that we offer this collection by unreserved catalogue auction. Some of the items of interest to be offered will include a small collection of carved maple sugar molds from Quebec, as well as Quebec cupboards to include a Louis XIV with a single door, a small buffet with a single door with a lozenge panel in old paint and a small hanging corner cupboard in original dark blue painted finish, Windsor chairs from Ontario and Nova Scotia, an outstanding cherry and figured maple sideboard from Upper Woodstock, New Brunswick as well as a two drawer mahogany lamp table from the same town, a figured maple slant top desk from Cornwall Ont., a cherry and figured maple highboy chest of drawers with French foot from Kingston, two English upholstered wingchairs, a small quantity of wrought iron fireplace equipment, a collection of miner’s lamps, a selection of Canadian silver flat ware, Indian trade silver, estate jewelry, an important but small collection of Canadian and American transfer historical china with a special interest in Arctic Scenery including both serving pieces and platters, a selection of oil paintings and water colors which will include two seascapes including a 19th century Hong Kong harbour scene showing the island from the mainland with ships of many countries present, two unsigned water colours in the style of C. Krieghoff, a small selection of early American glass whale oil lamps and accessories, wines and decanters, etc., a small number of reference books relating to subjects covered in the catalogue will also be offered throughout the sale uncatalogued.
