THE PRICE COLLECTION

 

Saturday and Sunday September 22 and 23rd

Beginning at 10 AM each sale day

 

To be held at Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation Health and Resource Centre at

22600 Island Rd., at Port Perry Ontario.

 

Preview each sale day, 2hours prior to sale start.

 

Directions: Turn off Highway 7a at Port Perry on Island Rd. and proceed 10 Km to auction site (sale site is just past the casino on the left side of Island Rd.

 

In May 2005 we held an auction for Patricia and Ralph Price in Port Perry Ontario that was entitled “A Sampling From the Price Collection” and was the beginning of a scaling down of a major Ontario collection of painted country furniture, accessories and folk art. Sadly, Ralph Price passed away in 2006 and Patricia has decided to move closer to her children and grandchildren. The result of this will be a two day auction in September 2007 that will include published pieces and other desirable items that many have coveted for years. As deadlines approach, we were still unearthing treasures that have been packed way for years, Please watch this page for regular photo and copy updates.

 

The following is a loose order of sale for each day with some categories appearing both days.

 

Day one, Sept. 22

Ontario country and country formal furnishings, early lighting, treen, red ware and stoneware, folk art, etc.

 

Day two, Sept.

Quebec country furnishings, textiles to include hooked mats, quilts, etc., collectible tablewares, decoys, folk art, etc.

 

The collection is well represented in Canadian publications and reference works such as Pain’s Heritage of Upper Canadian Furniture, Shackelton’s  Furniture of Old Ontario, McKendry’s Folk Art book, Twas Ever Thus and From the Heart to name a few.

There will be a catalogue produced for this auction at a cost of $35.00 which will include a price key after the auction and shipping, It can be ordered from the auctioneer by sending a cheque payable to Gerda Potter, 1049 Simmons Rd. Odessa Ont. K0H 2H0.

There will be a 10% buyer’s premium applied to the hammer price
